Author's Chapter Notes:
Being the first chapter, questions are raised rather than answered, so it can be a bit confusing, but rest assured things get cleared up.
When Klaus awoke, he saw several of his agents hovering about with worried expressions.
"Well?" He snapped. "What are you all standing around for?"
Z recovered first. "The mission was a success, Sir! The debriefing has already taken place."
"Fine. I want a report on my desk when we get back to Bonn." He stood, brushed himself off, and searched his pockets for a cigarette. His last one.
Well, it was a little embarrassing that he'd been knocked out, but at least he'd already done his part, that was what was important. It wasn't a sanctioned mission, he had only a third of his men and the results had they been caught would have been disastrous, but he had succeeded, he'd destroyed the laboratory.
If there was one thing that really infuriated him, it was commies, but it was even worse to see German scientists working for the Russians! No real German would do such a thing, he was sure of that. They deserved to have their research destroyed. It was even worth being caught in the explosion to do it-- he seemed to be fine now that he was awake, anyway.
He dismissed his men and they filed out, and a worried-looking Eroica stayed behind. Oh, right... the thief was there, too. Their targets had been different, what was he doing hanging around here now?
"Are you feeling all right, darling?"
"I'm fine." Klaus bristled. "What? What's that look for?"
"I was worried about you. You were very nearly killed, it's a miracle--"
"I said I'm fine. Well?"
"Well... looks like we're alone now..."
"Yeah, so?"
"I just thought--"
"Don't you have things to do? I thought you were here on business of your own. Not that I approve of your business."
"It can wait." He shook his head and took a step nearer. "You nearly *died*, I-- I just want to be sure you're all right, I--"
"How many times do I have to say it before you believe me? I'm fine. I'm fine, I'm fine, I'm fine. Go and steal your little treasure-- you might as well, this is the only time I'd be happy to see you get one over on your victims."
"Klaus..."
"Dammit, I'm tired. Get out of here while I'm still in a good mood." He growled.
"This is a good mood?"
"Don't try my patience."
"I just wanted to be sure--"
"Well you're sure now. Get out."
Eroica hung his head, looking hurt. This niggled at Klaus a little-- all the abuse he routinely heaped on the thief never garnered this kind of reaction before. And between his good mood at having destroyed the lab and his being tired and a little headache-y, he was going pretty easy on him.
"All right, darling. I-- I'll see you around, then."
"Whatever." Klaus blew out a thick stream of smoke and pointedly ignored Eroica until he heard the door click shut. He threw the bolt, stubbed out his cigarette, and flopped onto his bed.

When Klaus awoke, he saw several of his agents hovering about with worried expressions.
"Well?" He snapped. "What are you all standing around for?"
A recovered first. "The mission was a success, Sir! The debriefing has already taken place."
"Fine. I want a report on my desk when we get back to Bonn." He stood, brushed himself off, and searched his pockets for a cigarette. He was out.
No cigarette, and on top of that, how embarrassing that he'd been knocked out. At least he'd already done his part, that was what was important.
He dismissed his men, and they filed out. Dorian made to follow, but Klaus stopped him.
"Eroica, you stay."
"Me?"
Klaus moved past him, locking the door.
"It's good to see you're all right... I was quite worried."
"Don't worry." He shook his head. "I'm fine."
"You-- wanted to talk to me about something?"
"Well... we're alone." He blinked. It usually didn't take pointing out.
"Yes. We've been alone together before." Dorian said slowly.
"Exactly."
Dorian continued to stare in a blank sort of way. He did not make a move towards an embrace or kiss.
"Dammit, this is no time for that coy act." Klaus pulled the thief into his arms and held him tight. "We both know you didn't come here to steal any treasure of the tsars."
"Well, I--" Dorian sputtered. "It would've been nice, a couple of Faberge--"
"Even you aren't crazy enough to sneak under the Iron Curtain for fucking *eggs*. You're here for *me*."
"I'm not crazy enough to sneak through for art, but you're crazy enough to sneak through to blow up a building?"
"It had to be done. Even if it cannot be official. Why do you suddenly want to talk about such things?"
"You took quite a knock to the head, I--"
"I'm fine, I told you. Du brauchst doch keine angst zu haben, verliebte..."
"Klaus, darling, I--"
"Shh..." He took Dorian's face in his hands and kissed him softly. "Stay."
A hard-to-read look flashed across his face, but in the end, Dorian stayed.

There was an uneasy feeling that kept Klaus from falling asleep, and eventually he got out of bed and went to his window.
Eroica. Down in the hotel courtyard. What did he think he was doing? Just-- sitting there. It gave Klaus the creeps. No wonder he couldn't sleep, with that pervert trying to spy on him!
Except... Dorian was a professional thief. If he'd wanted to spy on Klaus, he would have gone either parallel to or higher than Klaus' window. And actually spent his time watching. No, he was just sitting there. Once he cast a look up towards the room, but he didn't watch. Just looked up, then down again. Was he waiting for someone? What a fool-- someone would see him, surely, and nobody could mistake him for a commie, he was just so foppish! They'd arrest him for sure, throw him in prison. Well, that would be the end of Klaus' troubles!
He yanked his curtains shut and went back to bed. It'd just serve Eroica-- What right did he have to sit down there looking so *forlorn*, anyway?

Dorian remained uneasy. Klaus tried taking care, but it didn't relieve the tension at all-- if anything, it only served to make Dorian more nervous.
"I told you, I'm fine. I was out for a little while, but it is nothing to concern yourself over."
"You just seem so-- I mean, this is all so--"
"Do you not want to do it?"
"Oh, darling, of course I *want* to, I've always-- but-- Are you sure you--?"
"I'm sure. How many times do I have to tell you? I'm fine. I'm fine, I'm fine, I'm fine. Now come on... I want to make love to you."
"Oh, Klaus..." Dorian sighed.
"You're so *tight*..." Klaus whispered.
"Well, I-- oh!-- it's been a while..."
A while... Klaus bit back an amused snort. So one week was considered 'a while' now, was it?

Klaus still couldn't sleep. He went back to the window, opening it this time.
Eroica looked up, and even from a distance Klaus could see his face light up. He shouted-- in Russian, he didn't dare speak English or German-- for the thief to get indoors, and slammed his window shut again.
He didn't wait to watch the expression fall.

"You've done that before..." Dorian gasped, still reeling from orgasm.
"Idiot." Klaus chuckled fondly and kissed him. "You know I have."
"Well, I mean, I always--"
"Sleep." Another brief kiss. "For a couple hours, before you have to sneak out."
"Have to sn-- Yes. Right. Of course. Sleep."
"And wake me before you go-- I'll give you a proper goodbye."
Dorian still seemed a little off from his usual self, but at last he settled down. Eventually, Klaus tugged him into the circle of his arms, and they drifted off to sleep together.
